Sermons
My unforeseen journey started in January 2016 when I was given the call to step up and volunteer as our church’s lay leader. I knew nothing about the position or what would be expected of me, all I knew was that in my heart that was what I was being called to do.
Within a few weeks, my first true challenge was presented to me, our pastor asked me to fill in for her on Mother’s Day. “This is what lay leaders do,” she said! First, I had never actually seen this and second, anyone who knows my family knows that if you want a preacher, you call my sister, she was given the gift to speak God’s Word and make you think about what it means to you. Me? I had never really spoken out much about my faith, but I was willing to follow the path that was laid before me (with A LOT of coaching from my sister).
Before I knew it what I had thought would be a one-time event turned into leading 7 worship services in three churches by the end of that year. And from there the bug took hold, I was hooked and wanted to do more. Here I share the sermons that I have been blessed to deliver over time.
A Different Approach to New Year’s Resolutions
What if we took a different approach to our new years resolutions? What if instead of focusing on the outward things we focus on the inward things? What if one of our new year’s resolutions was to try to better exemplify a characteristic of Christ?
Do Something – Put Your Faith Into Action
The name of Jesus is known throughout the world, whether or not you believe, you know who he is and know about some of his works. So wouldn’t you think that it would be easier for us to make disciples of Christ? Why do we now find it so much easier to have faith than to act on that faith? What stands in our way?
Asking for Thy Will to Be Done
God’s will is something we have all struggled with and even Jesus couldn’t avoid falling into the trap of asking for what he wanted. Read my story of acceptance to God’s will and how you can accept it too.
Oh, the Places You’ll Go….Alone?
“Oh, the Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss is one of the most popular graduation gifts. But is the message complete? Dr. Seuss implies that we go through this life alone, but we know there is a better message!
Be Open to New Opportunities
We need to remember that the birth of Jesus is not the end but instead the start of something wonderful! It’s in this time that we can feel God nudging us toward a new life and all of the new opportunities that the New Year will bring to us. Inside are 4 ways to help you be sure you don’t miss those opportunities.
